the author purposely makes sure that no one there but the COP whos the most dogmatic and morally correct who's actions can be rationalised properly and instead they choose to drag the woman who was forsaken by everyone, societ included and put herself FIRST because THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY SHE KNEW HOW TO SURVIVE??? through the mud
it's as if EVERYONE forgot that he also became a pimp for a period of time..hm. stop making pawn's revenge out to be some clean cut manhwa w a set structure of who's in the right and who's in the wrong bc really the only person that's in the right is the cop and even he's selfish to some extent get real y'all stop hating women quickly!
I completely get what you’re saying. And I think the way you’re approaching the story is the better side of the spectrum. Seeing that this isn’t a case of good v bad. Or even main character v main villain. This is a race out of an injustice system. Where if you’re not the first one out and the first one left behind. However, the author chooses to continues to “kick her while she’s down” because this is the other side of the story and the job of a storyteller. Tying of loose ends and pushing the narrative home. Your consequences don’t chase you, you run into them. You will along the way, be face with the results of your actions. Good, bad, or even neutral and even then your results might not match what you did. Every action is a stepping stone or a “pawn” that has consequences or “revenge” later down the line.
And even if you do get out, living is its own punishment. Death is scary, but in the story it used to cut ties and stop a story. As the characters continue to live in this “world” as the author has written, they will always have a chance or will be punished for their actions. Over and over again until they die. And living allows that, living allows the story, no matter happens, to continue. Living in this story isn’t even presented as good or bad. Just a state a being the characters decide or try to keep. You will keep being punished until you die, goes for every single character in the story.
But he isn’t…he didn’t go around trying to throw other ppl under the bus to get what he wants. He even trusted her when he met her but as yk she’s a narcissist and didnt feel any empathy for him and threw him to the wolves for her own benefit. Idk why it’s seen as misogynistic to trash on characters who are not good people simply bc they’re womenthe whole plot is to not like her character and the ppl she works with aka pawns REVENGE lol. Why does female villains get a sympathy pass just bc of their sex? Save that energy for female characters who get unnecessary hate for just existing like Sakura from naruto or something
pmo the rest of my comment deleted but WHATEVER! he threw a ton of people under the bus, including boys in similar positions as him when he became manager (pimp), though there weren't explicit characters, he said 'it's their fault for being so weak, i was able to escape, etc etc' and the other men who wronged him (completely valid, i was over the moon when he did) but that doesn't mean he didn't throw them under the bus he DID!!! only difference between the two is methods and levels of selfishness. ms jeon prioritises herself because that ALL she has, while je-oh prioritises himself AND seong-rok, bcz that's who he has. je oh rebelled all the way, while ms jeon played the long game and lied low and let others do her dirty work which is, mind you, completely understandable: she's an (ex) sex worker in 1980s korea -- A WOMAN!! in this period of time, keep that shit in mind -- who has NO ONE she can trust, what other choice does she have but to fight dirty, quickly!! obviously she's an antagonist and she deserves what's coming for her, but the COMPLETE lack of sympathy, especially since many readers are women, is so worrying. she's a bitch because she literally CANNOT survive any other way. i genuinely think you guys just can't read idk tho
Genuinely, your comments are the only ones keeping me sane. Because, Ive been saying this forever and folks keep trying to act like its not plain old misogny. They keep trying to act like Jeoh is a saint and then drag Mrs. Jeon, even when they do the EXACT SAME THINGS!! They can excuse every trashy ML who will force themselves on the MC every other chapter, just because they have a "sad backstory"

waking up to fujoshing misogynism rolls eyes
