Dr.Seok will get sent to a lil cabin in Russia because he becomes the host for the last Adam variant and needs to be in isolation. Major will get shot 3-4 times and pretend to be crippled for 5 months to recover before finding dr.Seok in Russia again. They meet again and that’s how the main story ends. There are 2 volumes of side stories

the climax happens before the separation there was a final "showdown" of sorts, and also the way their relationship is written throughout the story, you'll realize 5 month IS A LONG TIME for them to be apart. Also keep in mind that entire 5 months, dr.seok has no idea if major kwak is still alive or if he's dead, and even before that they'll go through another separation where major will...let's just say suffer extreme injuries. So the story is really important to make the ending as dramatic as it was. (I mean I cried when I read it so)
What happens in the side stories?

Side story 1 they go back to rainbow city to dissolve a new cult that arose but this time in their name and has the last sample of the last Adam variant. (Dw they chill) some domestic life fluff. Side story 2 they go to Vatican City to help them with their issues and find more behind the scenes characters and more domestic stuff
