What makes it even worse is that the MC knew that in the original novel, Karion fell in love with Lydia because of the kind and warm care she gave him… so as an adult, the MC definitely would’ve known that if she took Lydia’s place and raised him with that same kind of care, his affections would most likely redirect to her.
