As far as animals go, even with ones in fantasy, this is more accurate to dragons as living creatures. In fiction, fanciful creatures have been romanticized to the point of literally removing their animal behaviors and instincts and completely humanizing them. People forget what these animals should be by nature- and the dragon is an apex predator. Predators kill and eat other living beings, and they love the taste of meat and blood, as well as the thrill of hunting and killing. That is a part of their predatory drive. Na-in has a misfortune of being an eternal partner to one through no fault of his own- considering is hinted that in the past, he was a human that died and Amon consumed him and rebirth him from his own flesh to be his immortal partner. Na-in will always be a soft and kind-hearted human regardless of what Amon has done, or what he wishes for him to be, and no matter how much he allows the priests to keep drugging him and resetting his memory. And Na-in will always suffer for being in love with super predator that cannot relate to or feel anything for the human beings that Amon externally presents himself as, for the sake of hiding it's real presence and true form from the world.
I thought I was the only one thinking this way it's the same with the other dark themed MLs i.e. Mafias. Most writers depict them as green flag MLs who wouldn't do nasty, illegal typa shit that could get them death penalty.
