This reminds me of the Summer Hikaru died. But with a MC who is more apathetic/emotionally stunted. I think he’s genuinely grieving now. But the text message interaction from chapter one was so depressing. MC was so uncaring- that it hurts to read this compared to Hikaru. Like Hikaru as a person felt loved in the narrative, but here it feels like the original person is being forgotten. For me the scene where the coworker was saying they liked this new version more made me sad.
The goals of the stories are obviously different - this one is porn lol. But it’s like with Isekais, for me, I personally get sad when the ‘new version’ is liked better by their friends/family/community. It’s like saying the person they were wasn’t good enough and I find that heartbreaking.
I hope we get to learn more about the character who died. Especially now that a topic of dementia is being introduced. Like what a sad disease. Forgetting all the people you loved. Ugh my heart.
