oh yeah that's the case , the manga is literally called "oji-san" which means "old sir" like how you call a random older guy "uncle" or "mister"
just a sort of mistranslation, they should've clarified this in a note
For my sanity, they're neighbors from back then, nit blood related and the reason Ren calls him uncle is that he's known him since childhood
