But I think the main reason for his change was when he saw her crying in her sleep, asking him not to kill her - it reminded him of his own childhood, and how he lived in fear of being killed because his own dad was a scumbag. He really said ”she’s just like meeeeee! We both have daddy issues!
Yeah, No people forget he had no parental love to really go off of or even sibiling love, they were all trying to kill him. The only person he ever loved was his wife and he was still grieving over her, even drinking himself to sleep. I don't believe what he said about Phil living as a dead rat and dying quietly was right at all, but he has definitely shown over the years how much he cares and loves her, even now as she not showing that front she put as a child, he still treating her well. I would also like to believe that regardless if she changed her personality or not, he was gonna change how behaved toward her after seeing her be so fearful that he might kill her. Cause I think at the end of the day, he didn't actually hate her because he worried enough to go check on her that night because of Pollen's comments about her being sick. I think he was probably scared he'd be a bad Dad without his wife since he is known to be this cold and cruel guy.
