All of Taylor Swift’s music is written about her real friends, relationships and exes and no one has a problem with it.
I personally think it’s pretty even. The ml only changed after she wasn’t clinging to him and trying to move on. Yes, he’s an asshole and has probably did the same to others girls outside of Mc. So airing him out and using him for her own amusement is pretty close to same thing.

Yeah that’s why I say it’s just as reprehensible as the ML’s action. All I’m thinking about now is when it blows up in her face, it’s gonna be thrown back at her and I’m like girlll pls don’t do this
It was a way to imply through real life example that writing about your personal experiences with people, relationships, breakups, heartbreak etc is something normal it is not a vicious thing to do.
I am in my mid 30s and her little manipulations to get content to write the novel seem to me extremely naive and almost innocent compared to what he did to her.
She started writing the novel as a way to heal from the trauma he put her through just for the heck of it, and to avoid the responsibility and the consequences of his own choices. He on the other hand, purposefully lied, manipulated, played with her feelings, and hurt her for no reason. Whatever happened to him in the past does not excuse his behavior.
Anyways, what i meant to say is that I see nothing wrong about her processing her experiences with him through writing. I have no clue why so many people think it’s a betrayal or bad for her to do.

I find it interesting how ppl have reacted to the ML and FL. I’ve seen ppl beg and wish for the ML to be hurt and wrecked in every way. While he is an asshole for what he did to the FL, I find her writing about him for her novel and the manipulation for content to be just as reprehensible as the ML leading her on.
