At first I thought that it was pretty simple that Guwon was the Sisyphusand the hounds were the people in the city. Trying to maintain a flawd system. But now I'm not so sure.

I still think Guwon is the sisyphus, trying to maintain a certain order in a world that is doomed, he doesn't understand the value of lives or human relationships, that's why he structures the city simply based on functions. That's the rock he can't stop looking at, otherwise will collapse.

The hounds just obey him, no questions asked, at least for the unconscious hounds, which acts on fear or devotion. As for the teach, he's the conscious hounds, he understands the system and tries do change it, improve it, making it, in fact, functional. He's a flaw in the system an the very same that can really change the Sisyphus.

I'm not sure which theory is on reddit, but this is my take on it.

The AI version changes, but there was interesting collection of ideas... Guwon meaning salvation, rescue, or redemption - so he is the Sisyphus in that sense.
And Hounds meaning actually how his responsibilities and pointless survival are hounding him relentlessly.
Something like that... Saying basically that everything is layered metaphor.

Also, there was the idea that Guwon starts over learning to be human and this time Teach is teaching him.
Personally I did notice that Jin-woo's name does mean a lot of things that would make sense and probably does, because Guwon's name is too fitting.

Many of those had some similarities to what I was thinking, but... Nothing really solid.

Btw... I think Guwon is the one who made that flawed system, and not just maintaining it. That is why I questioned is this Sisyphus before the actual punishment. Because system he made is a lot of like what Sisyphus did to get punished. Not that it necessarily changes the story and characters too much which time it's from... But it might change the ending if he actually isn't pushing the rock, yet.

PS. Ofcourse I don't know Korean enough to see if there are multiple meanings in actual title, but I don't think the English name is too much of an accident.

Nope. I don't think so. There wasn't one for this author's other work either. That is why people have to figure out why that title. It kinda doesn't make fully sense for now.

My take is that it's the Sisyphus after the punishment, because I'm guessing Guwon is kind of a maggot, so it would make sense to be after. But I don't know how he would became like that or even for what he's beeing punished. It'd be something further in the story.

Ah, when I said that Guwon was maintaining the order in a world that is doomed, I meant that outside of where they are living was destroyed. I agree with you that he created the system in the town they're living now, a flawd system for us, but not him. Because he's a blank slate, acts on a logical understanding of people's roles, and doesn't understand how he should behave.

And here is the similarity with some of the theory you mentioned, Jin Woo is like the critical knowledge, and doesn't just go with the system that Guwon settled - also teaching Guwon. He isn't acting based on fear or devotion, that's why I referred to him as a flawd, because he is the one who can humanize Guwon and the system.

I can't.
I usually don't use AI, but I just took google Ai summary, partly because without login nowadays to many Reddit post/communities I can't read them and I have forgotten my login - so I didn't bother with that. Couple of them might have come from TikTok too, but it was nice collection and clearly nobody fully knows. Because even AI didn't give true real answer and AI likes to give one, even lie to give one - it's surprising that all of those were clearly just theories from conversation.

This is anyway a subject that I don't want to use too many hours to research, that is also why I was interested what were people's theories in here - if they have figured out something more. My thinking is quite limited after all, and I didn't have full thought/theory.
