I was getting the vibe something like that went down and it really does make a lot of sense. It's no wonder he behaves the way he does especially when you factor in that he's in his early 20s, not fully mentally developed and quite certainly had his development stunted by his trauma. I'm interested to know whether the author will develop these themes further
Im hoping the author does too bc yeah all of that happened while he was in HS i think, he was just a baby and i cannot fathom all that being fix magically. Its be ashame to just sweep it under the rug.
He is kinda stupid but after reading the raws idk man thats a certain kinda grief that makes you stupid honestly. Being blackmailed by someone in your church, saved by a friend/lover, publicly outed and harassed, your whole community hating you and your friend/lover, and then the one person who is yours getting beaten and them killing themselves because of a situation that would have never happened had he not helped you? That certainly does make a great big serving of guilt and self blame to an irrational level. Like therapy once a week for years is required but we all know in this culture thatd never happen. Its no wonder he comes off so self destructive, the hyper sexuality, the disregarding his safety, his character makes a lot of sense when you get the background.
