I'm at chapter 28 and the guy's suffering really doesn't justify his act of making the FL suffer. FL was ignorant and innocent raised in her birdcage there was no way for her to actually be aware the magnitude of suffering those spies suffered as she was so sheltered. Also there's no way you'd be crying your eyes out in sympathy for the dead to a guy you just met, also considering how reserved women were during their time it's just not possible. She could've shown a sad face yes but she was congratulating him beforehand maybe that's why she has a smiling expression and it'd be so hard to change expressions considering how quickly they were talking trying to finish the conversation as she was about to go on a walk with her father. I say even a microexpression of being sad wouldn't make the ml hate her that way, but really their sacrifices were downplayed to her by her father's narratives while the ML's and their nation's victory became such a big talk that it overshadowed the sacrifice of others.
