This would be true if Hiyama acted in a way that suggested them knowing would be a problem but as portrayed, them asking if they were dating was very lighthearted and accepting from the get-go so even if he didnt want to confirm nor deny, he didnt have to talk down on their relationship in the process. But I get it was a heat of the moment thing for him based on how he was already feeling insecure
I mean it’s not like uke knows seme’s friends all that well. He doesn’t really understand them like seme would. It’s perfectly understandable that he would be worried about his partner’s image to his friends about a homosexual relationship in a place like Japan. People tend to treat other different over the smallest things, and a person’s sexuality never seems to be a small thing unfortunately in our world *sighhh*
