Because he is white, he is just tanned because of his job and he lives in California.
It is based on a novel, it's just three different artist's different take on a character who is tanned. In KML he looks more tanned than in KMIYC and also the DMIYC promo, but he is still tanned.
Well they should be more consistent . Tanned version of him is much more better

Yes, a healthy tan can certainly make someone look more attractive. But Dane is someone with red hair and blue eyes, who are normaly pretty pale and tanning is diffcult as far as I know. So I think in KML they went a bit overboard with how tanned he is.^^
But I certainly don't want to see Dane as pale as a white sheet.lol
