Hate to break it to you but a 16-17 year old girl is still in fact a child/minor. I didn't read the whole manga because I was disgusted, but I saw another comment that said he kissed her in a hotel room when she was still 16-17 years old. That's not normal and by your definition of a pedophile that's having sexual attraction to A CHILD. I'll say it again a 16-17 year old girl is very much in fact still considered a child especially compared to a 28 year old man.
Also at then end of chapter 30 going into chapter 31 he asks her to be his girlfriend while she is still 16 years old. What kind of excuse do you have for that? She is clearly still a child and he even calls her a kid and in previous chapters acknowledges the fact that she is still underage.
Andd at the end of chapter 40 he kisses her AT HER SCHOOL, she is still 16 years old. You need to check your morals if you think this isn't pedophilia, because it most certainly is.
Pretty late to reply but if you don’t like the story just don’t read it. Yes pedophilia is genuinely bad but we have to realize that this story is generally JUST a story and we have to respect that he waited. Because she is a minor only by what the government determine, before it used to be 16 was legal age then got raised to 18. Sorry I should have clarified, I meant in a way that some seniors in high school can be creepy or weird towards those in the grades below them, so sometimes it's predatory based on their intentions. I'm not saying that he only fell in love with her because she was 16 but that fact that he literally saw her as a kid and still fell in love with her is quite disturbing. Yes, if this was real life the father definitely should have faced some punishment for abandoning his daughter to some random man. I've read plenty of shoujo mangas with appropriate age gaps and relationships. It would've been cute if not for the weird age gap. I never said everyone over the age of 16 is a pedophile? He was definitely not a little older than her he's quite literally 12-13 years older than her. Also I would call her a victim, it's the responsibility of the older guy to not pursue a 16 year old. You said this was predatory also... the size of age gap is irrelevant. I think there is more to a story than just the legal age but a person's character, mental state, the context of the story matters. Did you actually read the story? Did you consider anything only just the ages? He also did not pursue her but she did, the younger one. He was like her guardian protecting her from outside harm even though he wasn't her family. They become close because of a kindred spirit. I am not saying in real life its ok for 29 year old to run up to a local high school and pickup a 16 year old of course that would be weird.
