In the novel, his friend and the mc did say goodbye to each other. You should read the novel bc there's a lot of scenes that didn't add in the manhwa.
Personally even the novel one felt so rushed. But atleast it was there compared to the manhwa

What is bothering me is him leaving his normal life and his friend there without a word hopefully we get extra with a scene where they meet again or talk for the last time bc imagine your best friend almost dying and then after a month of seeing him depressed he just disappeares
