I really truly think that reincarnation is a lazy cop-out for authors that write terrible characters and don’t have the skill or the effort to ACTUALLY redeem them.
They’ll write 50 chapters of pure torture porn and instead of trying to make characters redeemable, nuanced, or likeable in the slightest they just kill them off and reincarnate them and call it a day.

yes, speak on it. the bl market is undeniably saturated with rape and abuse bc for whatever reason, the audience (which is undeniably a lot of straight women) looovveee seeing gay men getting raped and abused which is weird asf. and authors love to throw in a reincarnation arc to redeem the rapist. i just read into the rose garden and beyond the memories recently and i’m so??? like there was really no need to throw in rape in the first place so why are you trying to redeem them now and it shouldn’t be such a nuanced conversation - rape is bad, stop romanticising it, stop making the abused end up with their abuser/rapist and call it a happy ending, end of story hello?

The worst is when there's not even a reincarnation and they forgive anyway because "they love them too much" or something
