I think the author just wanted to write a story based on "forbidden love age gap" but did not execute it well. There are better ways to write age gap storys (without minors LOLLL)
One chapter in and we have the main character already acknowledging what he is doing is wrong, yet he continues to engage with the high schooler. This made him pretty unlikeable.
To make the situation seem like it's okay and the main character isn't the "bad guy" the author writes the high schooler to be the one crossing boundaries with the mc.
While it is true the younger one does cross boundaries, the mc was the one who did that first... "oh he's a minor I shouldn't even be having these thoughts" then proceeds to head pat him/flirt and ask him about his "sexual desires" oh okay man
Spoiler: also I skimmed to the latest chapter to see what the outcome was and it was the typical "I waited till I turned 18 can we date now" and then the groomer having "conflicted feelings" despite leading the kid on, so the audience can feel bad for him
