I understand the history of the genre, but longevity doesn't equal quality or ethical soundness. My point isn't that people should be silenced, but that we should hold the art we consume to a higher standard. We should be able to acknowledge a genre's history while also pointing out that certain tropes are predatory and shouldn't be normalized or marketed as romance. Certain taboo queer media has never helped, rather fetishized the genre for many people.
Mind you, this is on the tags "yaoi (67) age gap (64) One Shot (58) Pedophile (40) Blackmail (39) fucked up (37) Dark (34) Twisted (27) Interesting (19) BL (19)" like... really, what are you doing at the devil's sacrament calling the other witches, you get me? So I really don't undertand the goal of comming here and telling others this shouldn't exist, people come here precisely because of the tags and the author's other works.
By your own logic, if you hate my comment so much, why are you still here replying to it? I'm here because I read the manga and left a critique on it. Which is also a part of non blind consumption of media. Having dark tags doesn't mean a story gets a free pass from being called out for bad, harmful tropes. If you only want to see people praising the romanticization of assault, that's your problem, not mine. The only thing I wish to say is that stories like these play a big part in real world harm despite some readers having fiction and reality seperated.
I don't hate your comment tbh I genuinely wanted to understand the logic behind it, since you don't explain your logic I allowed myself to take a guess. So you walked into a oneshot tagged "pedophile, blackmail, fucked up, dark," read it, and are now saying things like stories like this shouldn't exist. Not that this one was written badly but that the category on itself shouldn't so I'm asking what's the actual reasoning there? because from where I'm standing, it looks like wanting to consume taboo content WHILE also holding a moral trophy for condemning it, like playing on mud without getting dirty.
Then you say stories like this "play a big part in real world harm." can you actually back that up with anything besides a feeling? Horror fans don't become killers, dark romance readers don't go seeking abuse, people who can't separate fiction from reality had those problems long before they opened a tagged oneshot or are way to young to be consuming adult content
You came into a space clearly labeled for exactly what you found, and now you're lecturing, that's no critique, the tags warned you, you stayed anyway.
Own your choice to read it, or stop pretending you're on a high horse but don't act confused when people in a dark yaoi comment section push back on you calling for the erasure of dark yaoi.

lol this ppl acting like this is new in the genre of yaoi bruh, like there's literally father x son, brother x brother, 40 y/0 x 20 y/o, and more.. don't get me wrong i dont support this, but yall should know better where youre going into.
its not like theres smoke without fire isnt it? so chill out, its your fault.
