i feel like the writing is just rushed tbh. him being an asshole isn't a new trope but if we actually got a thoughtful redemption arc and more backstory it wouldn't feel as terrible. even a longer period where they're actually separated and more about trying to break the bond would be good. this just seems like a plot for a thought out slow burn. not a smutty drama tbh
