He accidently heard about it when Josh was talking to Isaac, should happen in one of the next chapters. He finds out that Josh has a child, and that he is probably getting back together with Pete's mom ( Josh said that to Isaac, because Isaac was still hitting on him). So he thinks that Pete's mom is a beta woman and his rival.
When he finds out that Josh is an omega...he thinks that Pete's dad is an alpha woman.lol
He wants to become the stepdad for his own child, like Keith and Winston.lol
And he is afraid that Josh will choose "Pete's dad" over him......so he is jealous of himself.^^
He is relieved when he finds out the truth, because he was afraid that he raped the person he slept with back then. And he is happy.
Cmiiw it's not that big of a deal for Chase if i remember. He treats Pete with care even without knowing Pete is his son, he willingly faced of with a dog to protect Peter. I forgot about his reaction but he if I'm correct he was still in shock from the dog. Joshua told him after the incident. More so like
Joshua: you're afraid of dogs why did you force yourself
Chase: because he is your son
Joshua: he is yours too
