It was cleared up why he said he didn’t want kids. He knew she was infertile or at least it would be extremely challenging for her to get pregnant. Basically he didn’t want to put pressure on her about having kids, nor get her hopes up. It didn’t matter to him whether they had children because as long as they were together he’d be happy. (And during those times people mainly wanted bio kids, especially when it comes to inheritance, hence why he mentioned he has family for that.)
I will say he could have worded himself better when he first responded to her after she asked but other than that he had good intentions. (Also regarding the comment of the baby’s appearance, him looking more like his dad rather than his mother doesn’t bother him. He clearly showed care for the boy, in his own way.)

Overall it was good there were some specific parts that were underwhelming for me like the crown prince and how easily he was defeated, and specifically Dante saying he didn't want children... Like bro he f*cked up really bad, if you want a child even if not your biologically you'll want them, and saying that he wanted the child to look like his wife... Like I feel bad for Louis, ofc it's not date's fault for having a horrible childhood but having children would be okay for a story like this if he was going to appear in like two chapters ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ poor Louis.
