"Why does it feel wrong ?"

Geeeeeee wilickers! I wonder why Reo (●'◡'●)凸

How do you stumble into a family that is actively caring for you with no problem whatsoever, to then turn around and choose to run away cause you aren't sure on how to take such affection.

I understand you're a teen who wasn't brought up in a 'good home' given what you've told us about your mom BUT you now have a brother who is the very definition of "dealing with the punches" and "going with the flow." You can't even lie to yourself or us by saying Ryoma is just being polite cause we (the audience) as well as you (and majority of your classmates), have seen that he sticks with values and states them regardless of how people might feel.

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
BE A TEEN AND LASH OUT MORE. AT LEAST THAT'S SOME FORM OF COMMUNICATION THAN THIS SELF PITY VICTIM THING YOU'RE DOING RN(╯°Д °)╯╧╧

Regardless of how this boy feels, can we all agree he is just not objective in regards to seeing and thinking about the given facts... at all

Here we have a grandfather who not only has to be faced with his son's infidelity and the irresponsible behaviour he's shown as a father to Reo, he also has another grandson to cater for on his own. He has every right to have given Reo some money and sent him on his way (as was Reo's initial intention to boot), if he truly was bothered. YET, not only did he bloody fight for the rights to carry Reo under his wing; He's paying for his school fees, not hiding that Reo is his grandson despite how that might seem to people (from what we've seen so far), and actively put out a search when Reo stayed out beyond curfew. And that's an old man!

Now let's look at Ryoma who's a teen just like Reo who you would expect throwing the most negative reactions to all these changes but NO! HE'S ACTIVELY GOING ALONG WITH YOUR IDEA OF HIDING YOUR RELATIONSHIP JUST CAUSE HE CAN EMPATHISE WITH HOW YOU'D FEEL AND HE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO LOOK FOR YOU ON A BLOODY BICYCLE IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT CAUSE HE WAS THAT WORRIED

REO THINK OBJECTIVELY DAMMIT, THINK

I think because they came from very different environment that Reo cannot lash out more. Keep it in mind that Reo think he is an illegitimate child and he is being taken in by practically strangers so he is basically freelance in someone else’s house, he would not want to lash out and get kicked off the family so he’s being careful.

It is a mechanism to survive for kids with trauma too, you cannot expect them to express their feelings freely when their trauma runs deep, especially with domestic abuse.

And he hasn’t stayed with them long enough to really relax yet, that fear of being abandoned or being kicked out of the house is going to stay for a long time because he keeps reminding himself of being an unwanted child. Personally, I think Reo actions make quite a lot of sense.

agree, I just hope that Reo can accept and embrace all those complicated feelings soon. And that he realizes that he actually deserves all the love from the people around him.

    Ah.
Hmm, this is awkward for a number of reasons.

My response is as a reader who can see everything that's happening and can thus react as a whole. As you can see not once did I say he was being stupid, reckless or unreasonable. Even when I brought up Ryoma going along with him to pretend they don't know each other outside their home, I don't call it unreasonable.

    It makes sense.
Heck all he does would make sense even if he was an adult (even more so as an adult actually, if you wanna debate it).
That was not why I made the comment you responded too

It's one thing for me to read, acknowledge and understand Reo and simply nod like "Yeah, you're 100% valid for doing this," and it's another thing for me - as a reader, to see the full picture and Internal monologues of several characters and have that exact same response.

I'd be ignoring everyone else while only understanding his (Reo's) side of the story which shouldn't be so. Especially due to the structure of the story so far (the perspective not being solely focused on him).

In summary; My initial comment is a reaction to that very specific question he asked himself "why does this feel wrong?" It was not a reaction to his character as a whole because he IS very relatable to read.

The relability alone makes this all the more of an interesting read because seeing as his character, it would not at all be shocking if he successfully moved out and decided to stop talking to Ryoma and everyone out of "shame" or "guilty" or whatever happens. And as understandable and downright realsitic as that reaction would be, you best believe I'd still rage

Something can be very valid and understable and still be very frustrating to read / listen / watch, believe it or not.

Anyways, Happy sunday to you and everyone reading this.ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
