There's a difference between understanding and pitying someone's origin and excusing what they did. Do I think the King's actions can be excused due to his experience? No, they were wrong and vile and WILL backfire in his face. Do I think he could've just forgotten about his past and grow into a better person? Also no, not with a lot of intervention which he never got. He never had the chance to leave the environment that did that much damage to him. Mental illness is real and I pity him for how he was treated
