i actually think you're right! this story is set way before Smyrna and Capri, and there it's explained that Sei comes from a long line of dragon descendants. That power made it possible for them to breed, which is something i believe may actually come from being Shuraka's descendant. i'm not making much sense, but BWAT talked about it on their twitter a few months ago, to make sure we knew the stories are linked, which may likely result in mpreg in this story as well! :-]

In chapter 3 the former king says to Tei and Shuraka to take the chalice and refers to Shuraka as “his 13th seed” and Tei as “the bearer of his seed’s seed”. His exact wording being, “who shall bear the seed of my seed”. When he sees Tei, he comments that Tei is a man but still refers to him in a way as he is able to have Shuraka’s child. Ik maybe my inner mpreg mind is probably running in overdrive, but it’s weird the author put emphasis on the king’s words and his lack of reaction to Tei being a man.
Which brings me to my point, I wonder if this means that Shuraka, because he bears the eye of Natam and is literally brimming with “life”, can make even a male pregnant?
Please be kind and don’t roast me if you do respond It was just something I noticed and wanted to get off my chest! ( ̄∇ ̄")
