Really love this author. This story was really, super interesting with the literature elements that go down to even the words/text used. Also super great BDSM depiction, 5 stars.
BUT I think the complexity of the dialogue might have made it difficult to adequately translate and I feel some things got lost in translation, like the plagiarism bit did not make sense to me. Like uke said something along the lines of he realized his manuscript abilities weren't just a one off, I didn't understand the relevance, was he afraid of him getting a foothold in the book writing industry he loved so much? So he did the plagiarism to try and chase him off? Some parts also felt like they ended abruptly and I didn't understand what was going on, like when he was telling his beloved author about the smut book, was like "oh, yeah, uh, it's smut" and then it's just like scene cut to next day where he's knocking on the door of the author's house. I had to go back and realized from the black bordering and the panels very abruptly getting smaller and fading that that was them trying to cue a "next day" thing, but it was too abrupt and short to notice. Also like, author discovering plagiarism and then going into torture was like WHAT I don't even know man. Please can I have a crumb of context, just a little morsel. I can somewhat understand seme sending the video, as shitty and toxic as it is, we do at least have context for that with his work being plagiarized, though at the same time some wild stuff to do to someone you supposedly are madly in love with. Also what was with the uke's family randomly showing up in like shadow memories about??? I got from the coal thing that it didn't sound great but with those scenes I was waiting for some big reveal of a tragic backstory that never happened and I'm like why were they even in there at all?
This author is pretty new though and I think maybe suffering from trying to fit too complex a story into too few of chapters. Still appreciated tho.
