Dang i dont even remember writing this cmnt... i need to stop staying up so late reading yaoi ahaha
Anyways, its probably been a year since I started reading thisβhow time flies! As usual, spoilers warning below~
>MY THOUGHTS< !!!VERY LONG!!!
*I'll try not be biased since I ADORE this manhwa (im not even joking this is actually my 4th time reading xD if you scroll far enough in the comments you might find my earlier comment when this was at like 40 ish chaps & after i dropped that review i reread twice xD).
So lets start with what drew me in. Despite the art being passable, ultimately it was the plot that interested me to read this as I thought it was very unique. Unlike others in the comments, this story had hooked me right from the beginning, like a credit card company that takes payment in the form of luck? Never heard of that financial system before xP
However imo the manhwa very obviously gets weaker towards the finale. Theres 2 main plot lines outside Haejun and Seos romance: Haejuns sister being critically ill and Seos afterlife fees. Now idk if its just me but the ending felt kinda rushed/unclear but like also i think this website is missing some panels so like idk?? But as a reader the story lines did not wrap up as satisfyingly as I wanted them to. Like the exposition was done well, and despite having pacing issues the storyline still stayed strong for majority of the manhwa. I may have felt a little disengaged at points (some chaps are lowk filler like finding out if Seo is underage or not but luckily its only for a short while and then were back on track), but man why is the last arc so disappointing in comparison to the rest? My cuties deserves a better ending to wrap up their journey Like my comment above said, i need side stories desperately to fill this sadness in my heart _:(Β΄ΰ½`γ β ): (Would like some R18 scenes too jus sayin )
+ Gonna address this before i move on, i honestly dont think this is as boring as some ppl claim. Before judging, please read a few chaps and see if you fw it or not. I decided to jump in with no prior knowledge and now look at me, writing this lengthy ass review as a public proclamation of my love for this manhwa haha. Basically, pls don't judge a book by its cover (οΏ£β½οΏ£;) I know i said i'll try be unbiased but its kinda annoying that some manhwa are overlooked because of their artstyle and i fear lucky credit may be a victim of this (ββΈβ) Of course if you come to the conclusion that this isnt your cup of tea then I understand but I seriously wonder if some people read with their eyes closed. like are yall bored cos they dont freak every chap or what im confused Yes it may have pacing issues but i will forever fight the boring allegations idc xd
One thing that this manhwa gets right consistently until the end is the characterisation and chemistry between Haejun and Seo. All I can day is its just *mwah* I shipped them alllll the way until the end (β§ββ¦). What I find in many similar pairings is that they lose all chemistry once they end up together but these two still were going strong even after Seo stayed at Haejuns place & they started officially dating. The author likes to do cat & dog parallels with them which is so accurate, especially considering their opposites attract dynamic, which is one of my fav tropes (γΟγ) (...thats probably another reason as to why i like this so much lol)
Haejun is kind, reliable, understanding and empathetic, meanwhile Seo is an evil tsundere lmfao. But their personalities is precisely why their pairing works! I love how Haejun gracefully accepts Seos prickly personality and slyly exploited his sweet tooth in order to gain his trust, and how Seo eventually warms up to him because one, free desserts and two... its Haejun (Completely understandable btw I'd also fall in love with a man like him hes sk fucking hot and husband material xD) However Haejun's character doesnt fall flat since he has a strong sense of justice & isnt a doormat to Seo; yes he handles Seo with grace even when Seo is being an ass, but he isnt afraid to confront Seo when he crosses the line & likes to challenge his very pessimistic worldview. Hes quite literally behind Seos character development & tbh he worked some fuckin magic with Seo, that man has been living out of pure spite and a bottomless greed for money for the past millennia bro Hes the perfect counter to Seo & its nice how he inspires Seo later on to work on himself and stop cosplaying a billionaire CEO by exploiting his workers & customers for money and actually start caring for people other than himself lolol
That leads me to Seo. He is one tragic character and his moral complexity makes him so compelling that i just want to dissect everything about him. Now yes I am biased since i love bratty bottoms but like, he transcends that label bc he is genuinely evil lowk but at the same time hes kinda justified. Nd i would be lying if I said I hated him for his actions lol but i understand the other commenters who said they hate his guts bc he IS an asshole. but his backstory is a LOTTT darker than I thought it would be like his adoptive family literally brutally mutilated and tortured him, and then murdered him BY CRUSHING HIS HEART for no fcking reason just because he threatened the line of succession in the merchant guild since he was such a good businessman. like wtaf i would also turn into a malevolent, revengeful, spiteful person as well (o_o) Now what I cant defend under any circumstance is him carving out his adoptive bros heart and eating it because ??????? Thats the only time I legitimately was like what the fuck Seo Other than that icl he had every right to become an evil twink and terrorise both the heavens and the earth xd
As mentioned earlier, he goes through some character development which is very welcome to see bc he was lowk a king von level threat in his past life Bro killed and betrayed everybody and anybody for money bc he hated the world so much Although his personality didnt change much (hes still lowk a prick to anyone that isnt Haejun) I felt sooo bad when he started getting insecure that Haejun would be disgusted by him & leave him since hes a jaded 1000-something year old who lived a *very* questionable life. yes i know he did actually do allat evil shit without remorse and i admit defending him is difficult but like it was before he got his new body from black blob and he clearly isnt happy having lived a life like that, which is why hes trying to save up for the ferry fee so badlyβthat is until Haejun comes along of course. Also its nice that once he falls in love with Haejun he genuinely realises he needs to change his outlook on life & business tactics to be less pessimistic and economically predatory, and after munheon gets into the car accident and leaves the company he takes haejuns advice and apologises to him (it was a crappy apology but like its probably the first time he did that ever lmfao). in the end i like him and if you dont, then i understand 100000% lol
TLDR: Love this, but the ending couldve been better (οΏ£^οΏ£) I adore Seo & Haejuns dynamic sm :pp I wont give a rating since IK i'll be biased but i surprisingly liked this a lot & defo want to see more ;3; manifesting lots of side stories qοΎ(οΎΒ΄Ο`οΎ)οΎο½‘

GIRL WHATF DO YOU MEAN THE END? PLS I NEED AT LEAST 100+ SIDE STORIES CHAPTERS AGGHH
