i left this alone to marinate around chap 20 and i'm still immensely disappointed in both of them. MC is going off of a really stupid misunderstanding that makes me cringe and ML is unnecessarily violent as someone said in an earlier comment.
i do feel sad for jaekang/charcoal tho because, now that we know his backstory, i REALLY don't want him to end up with MC. he deserves so much better than these men who give him the bare fucking minimum
