The Friend he is talking about in chapter 5.2, is the friend he killed in most horrible way not directly but intiated his suicide. He Bullied him badly, and forced the guy to sleep with his own sister. He was a psychopath and not the good one.
You will find more about him in the Trace, that is sequel of this.
And I'm pretty sure the friend is also his first love/crush that was mentioned before....
