i once had an english teacher in 3rd grade who pronounced 'day' as 'dee'
little me, listening to too much maroon 5, said to him "teacher, isn't it sun-DAY and not sun-DEE?"
he gave me zero for my homework that week and told the principal, who then told my parents, that i was an insolent brat
fun times

i don’t think you were in the wrong, but in the south, pronouncing it like that is technically right. it’s just a regional accent thing, nothing to point out

    you're right
but the point is, my english teacher shouldn't act like that, just like the teacher in chapter 6.1
as an adult, if you make a mistake, the mature thing to do is to take accountability, apologize, and correct your action instead of being hostile to the person pointing it out, and to a kid nonetheless
