No no, there’s a lot of misunderstanding happening at the end because the ML doesn’t know why he is acting as he is. Leading him to do things he wouldn’t be doing normally. Then when the ML knows his feelings more clearly (which is a long way to go), the MC understood they are just together for sex, as he wasn’t in position to hear clarifications. It goes like that for some chapters until FINALLY they had to have a serious talk again.
Starting from the time when the ML acted very strange, there’s basically a prolonged culmination point at all times, but I think it shows pretty well how they both were feeling as as well - the time feels like is stopped but also running too fast.
Also note - there are scenes I would consider dub-con as the MC felt like he was more in a dream. Also a lot of things are happening in meanwhile making you feel like you don’t know what’s going on. It is explained later and the ML perspective is given multiple times.

I read the novel and it was truly amazing and moving read. The main characters perception and thoughts were so well described that I could feel things not even mentioned. Or maybe it was because I felt a connection with the mc - it was really a long time since I read about someone with similar mind.
Spoiler:
The ending can make one really impatient because the Ml doesn’t know what he’s feeling at all times.
