I’m pretty sure in the novel, his walk to the hospital initially was easy, but then he turned away and his pain gets worse which makes him go back in. And a lot of the descriptions of his pain is also inside the hospital
In the novel they placed more emphasis on how infected / bad his injured leg is! Like quite literally he was struggling to walk and stuff levels of pain and this hospital was far. (just thought this was an interesting change) it’s supposed to be a big deal I wonder if they’re changing it so that he hurts it more later rather than now
