I cant say I really enjoyed reading this, it was turbulent from the beginning. My curiosity kept me reading but every chapter the author kept adding new levels of misogyny and easily swayed women. I really cant believe she chose that guy at the end, only to be rescued by the one she rejected who actually loved her. I wasn't to sure about the ships going to japan and America or what happened to anyone who made it to the other side. I did not enjoy the ambiguous ending like does she die? cause as we have seen the mermaid took the sister and she died. And I am fairly certain that she will die because the author at the end indicated life or death the life being with the man and death being with the mermaid.
