I’ve yet to find a straight romance that does yearning the same way yaoi does… When I read straight romance theres some jealous or angst plot and fluff afterwards but not true deep agonizing yearning. Well I don’t actively try to find them so maybe that’s on me lmao T_T
This is so true, lol. I used to read a BUNCH of straight manhwas but the relationships between the FL and ML were always so unexciting and basic. I think BLs also are able to explore toxic relationships without having misogynistic undertones, like in straight manhwas, so when you read dubious content in yaoi, it doesn't feel sexist or anything. Ykwim?
I really wish there were more interesting straight manhwas. I think the only one I'm reading right now is 'Toying With Daddy,' because it was something new and interesting for once. I hope we get some good food soon.
I think they don't have opportunities to "yearn" for each other because it's.... just a heterosexual relationship, they can just date if they like each other. So it doesn't have the centuries of angst and yearning of homosexuality fueling it
Im really jealous of the plots in yaoi .. there's yearning and love and plot and tension and anticipation but the straight smut is lacking a lot of this ..only a few good ones have good plot and build up.... I'm jealous enough to wish for more versions of every manga one straight and one for the rainbow
