Okay... after reaching chapter 140 I now easily understand the reasoning behind making her do the tests.

Its because the magic swordsman, creator of the magic tower was the human lover of Leorga, and she is heartbroken that he is no longer alive with her. So her tests are her forcing the FL to learn through pain and sadness (literally she already fought a battle, aka pain) that the magic swordsman was Leorga's lover and that he died and yet Leorga is still living 1000 years later, or however many years later, and that the same exact thing will happen to the FL and her entire human family so....
