It's probably because it's been so long since the first couple happened that the focus is more on the 2nd. I lowkey prefer the first couple

Yeah me too. First couple is so cute I missed them so much in s2. While second couple was a bit frustrating to read. Not a big fan of prolonged chasing and stripping ML of his personality for the sake of being together. But I'm still in the beginning of s3 may be it will become better.
