The FL has one dormant braincell and is a hypocrite. She wants to be with her mother and stands for her origins from the slums, yet she still stays in the system which created that hellhole in the first place and marries the ML who’s partially responsible.
Not to mention that the ML is extremely manipulative and kept the mother’s letter from her because he was scared she would be “happier with her mother”.
