Saw one of the comments saying, "because when they parted it wasn't due to feelings changed... etc etc" But honestly, at the end of the day you cannot condone cheating. It is what it is. He slept with his ex while being in a relationship with someone for 5 years. If old feelings were resurfacing, then break it off with the poor guy and then do whatever the hell you want to. Why would you cheat on the poor guy? Thank God there was a spin-off for Natsuro. I'm glad that I read that first. I could never like this story unfortunately. The author worked hard on it and that's great, good job! But still, really cannot condone this.
