Hmmm yea I’m curious on how it will turn out- tho I’m not sure if the director is trans(mainly bc they seem rlly uncomfortable) but your explanation makes sense. All I can truly tell is that they are uncomfortable with being perceived/and or forced to “replace” their dead sister. I’m glad there are more authors exploring themes of identity and sexuality tho- the only thing I don’t like in this story is how often the director will monopolize the seme with work- out of jealousy- even while knowing bro’s in a committed and loving relationship. It really more of a pet peeve but it bothers me to see the couple miss each other and feel lonely
my guess is that the director probably is mtf, hence the “i’m doing this because i want to” and the question they asked to shizuma about minato hypothetically transitioning. that’s also maybe why they’re presenting as a woman outside meetings with the father. all of it points to their personal desire to transition, they just feel guilty when it’s used to replace their dead mother/sister. the scene where they’re visibly disturbed after meeting with the father probably isn’t because they’re forced to dress as a woman per se. rather, they feel disgusted doing it to live as someone they’re not. (the scene with tatsumi spilling water over the director’s dress shows that the director is overly apologetic to ‘tsukino’)
if that tsukino is the director’s mother/father’s wife, it would mean that the father is viewing his own child with romantic interest. that’s all more the reason for their disgust.
