Yeh. MC is a bit inconsistent at times but I don’t think it’s the worst ever. I just attributed it to his intelligence stat being low so that’s why he is dumb(makes it easier to justify I guess). Like I get that S-rankers are cool to have as friends but is it really worth the struggle. Like it’s chill now in the recent chapters but when MC was getting strangled or his arm almost chopped off that was kinda crazy. He would be like “just a tiny bit aggressive” and I’m like hell nah, they were literally gonna kill ya and ur not even giving it a second thought. ( ̄へ ̄)
It might be because while the action of strangling itself was hostile, the reasoning behind it wasn’t. He probably considered the intentions good enough that the overall interaction wasn’t considered hostile. I can agree his common sense isn’t fully there, but I think that’s explained enough by the fact that he raised Yoohyun (who already had an “eerie” feeling to him since birth) plus the skill that negates fear.
Actually, yeh I agree with you there. The author definitely tries to address that, and your explanation explains it pretty well. But when I think of the main inconsistency of the MC, I think of the chapter where he goes from ruthless to aloof. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it definitely feels out of character of MC. For example, when MC helps the celebrity and kills a bunch of people. It’s explained right after that MC killed a bunch of guys in past and so that is why he can be ruthless and cold to others. Then… it’s never talked about MC being like that ever again. I think the author probably put a scene like this to give more depth to MC (maybe make him more of a vigilante) but then later changed their mind on the direction of how they wanted MC to act. Because instead of a cold ruthless MC, we have what we have now.
I think that attributes to yoojin's mental stat and doing it out of desperation, yoojin only killed people when they tried to harm him first,he never killed anyone innocent,he does it mostly out if self defence,he even mentioned something like this in the novel tho not quite,he's not really cold in the novel either,he's more silly?it was more so I think cause of how depressed he was pre regression, that sat of fear resistance helps him wayyy more for his own mental fortitude than he gives credit, everything he did pre reg was either for survival or for his brother,in the end he isn't as adamant about reconnecting with his brother pre reg,he's mostly just depressed in a situation where it's like he has no job cause no one would hire him(due to rumors regarding yoohyun) and he just didn't want to do anything,he kinda became an alcoholic and was constantly harassed by the media alott,to the point he wouldn't leave his house I think,he's a very glass half full kind of guy,he was also a lil messed up imo,I mean he literally raised a kid whoose own parents were afraid of him even as a baby

idk if it's just me but there are moments when he's acting dumb. is it on purpose or just his character? he said Director Song never really acted 'hostile' to him. is someone trangling you unprovoked not hostile enough? i've noticed it on the previous chapters as well. maybe his sense of danger and logic got lost somewhere.
