I agree so fricking much it hurts... I lost count of how many times I've been baited till now.
I think the worst case was the childhood friend want to kill me or something... the cover is gorgeous... the art? Sucks so much it gives me shivers... you don't notice how bad it is while they are still kids... but that artist... doesn't know how to draw bodies and clothes and it shows... there are parts when the ducking background loons better than the characters... and the plot is a pressure-rising level od bad...
At least in this one there's still hope for her to look more like the cover with time sice she's still adjusting to not need to tone herself down anymore...
Sameeeeeeee. Even coloured japanese webtoons seems basic compared to korean webtoons.
For manga i usually just stick to classic shonen, horror and slice of life or school life romance cause that's where all the good artists are.
But for rofan and webtoons japanese ones kinda suck. Their plots are usually super basic and the art is generic
Oh god... jp webtoons are horrendous... sometimes I start one of them and 1 2 ch in I'm like... yeah... this shee ain't kr... it's glaring how the art looks sloppy in comparison.
Yk how some anime art sooks like a hella downgraded version of the manga? That's how I feel reading jp webcomics...
I also stay on those genres for manga... and some slice of life isekai...
For webcomics the kr ones win by far... and they also have some good novels. Actually most of the webcomics I like best are pased on novels.
And the ch also sucks on webcomics... theres few of them that are good... mainly because they are horrible in adapting novels into comics and the also but too much fanservice. But I confess I do like their novels.
Lastly... I gave up on animes... the voice acting is too exagerated (in any language) and it gets on my nerves... and it's so high pitched and loud... I feel I'm too old for that... I even make my husband wear headphones while watching cuz it annoys me too much.
There's also the fact that kr mc's in general tend to be young adults while the jp ones are usually teenagers... and reading about teens... doesn't interest me as a 30+ yo...

Everything you said was so real omg. Especially in chinese webcomics. It's gotten to the point that if i see a webcomic is chinese i don't even read it. Especially since a lot of them I get the vibe that the translators don't speak one of the two languages they're translating and in some cases none of them. Like they never know the characters genders, the grammar is so bad you start to feel lobotomized.
I haven't watched anime in a while for similar reasons. I'm getting older and watching stuff about high schoolers is boring. And the animes about adults are so few or just suck in general.
I forgot another area where jp manga is better. Sports. Sports mangas are always amazing. I've never enjoyed a korean webtoon about sports. They usually are overpowered mcs with a cheat skill. ANd i'm like is the mc that bad that they need a status window to play soccer/football. That's so lame.
I agree that the best webtoons are based on novels. It's rare to find a korean webtoon not based on a novel that's actually good.
However it sucks when the novel is good but the webcomic is trash which happens for a lot of korean rofan novel
Webtoons in general are just starting to drop in quality cause most of them are cash grabs even though webtoons barely make any money. Maybe they do in korea and china where piracy is harder but IDK, it seems silly to me to make a cheap trash webtoon for money when ppl barely pay for the good ones.
Japanese ones especially are mainly cash grabs made by people that couldn't get to be published traditionally through prestigious manga companies
Feels like readind raw novels mtl... which... is not that bad of an option tbh. Mtl came a long way...
Most of times I just think od the comics as a sort of promo for the novels. I don't have in me anymore to keep up with a comic for more than a year to know how it ends. I tend to go to the NU forum to read the spoilers and keep with the comic when I remember to... and if it's interesting enough I read the novel. I like the kr novels too... but they tend to be behind paywalls both raw and tld... hence I go for the ch ones... even if they're usually more... dramatic.
They have a lot of novels simmilar to cheating men must die where each arc is 1 plot... and they feel like short stories and felt like a breath of fresh air after mangas manhwas and webcomics that are too long. Even rofan I sometimes catch myself thinking oh it would all been solved if they just did such and such... oh... but if they did the story would've ended... XD I think I stay in rofan for the gorgeous art more than anything... I just rotate between them whenever I get bored with the current genre/style

These novel covers are starting to piss me off. I hate getting baited
