Exactly! Like yeah let’s go ahead and give na emotional backstory for him - that could JUSTIFY his nasty obsession and entitlement! Yuk!
I don't think the backstory is to give an excuse to his entitlement or for all the shitty things he's done. But to further show how close they are as at least friends, since that part was mostly glossed over to get to the main plot. If you don't care about the backstory then that's fine but it's still a crucial part of the story.
i understand that it's meant to advance the story and illustrate su-ah’s character development in the future, but tbh it’s clear that his past will make people more forgiving toward him, and I don’t think he really deserves that (in my pov)
That's fair, I just wasn't fully sure if you understood given the first comment. And I also agree he doesn't deserve forgiveness. But I am sure it's for the illustration of friendship, at least from what I understand.
