This is literally just Stockholm Syndrome. He treats him so bad - kidnapps him, rapes him - that even basic human decency - like not raping him when he is sick or feeding him - seems like kindness to him. Bet in 10 chapters he is going to think this is „love“. I really liked the Story idea with a hermaphrodite snail shifter, but there is no actual plot or any redeeming qualities of the ML. Then again: Sharks are really ruthless with their females, it’s basically paralyzing, biting and gangraping her. So the rapist character is actually pretty fitting for him. But it’s not like this world is well thought out, so only taking the rapist part from the mating ritual seems unnecessary. Just leave it at the double genitals. This COULD HAVE BEEN good.
