There are a lot of strokes that gloss over a what happens after a separation but most of the time it’s quite depressing. Especially if they are bonded, most of it goes like an alpha can bite how many omegas they want but when they leave an omega the omega (because of the bite/bonding) is forced to go on continuous east rue or when their heat comes they can’t use medication or sleep with anyone else bedside their bodies repel other alphas. So allot of these omegas commit.
In other cases I saw the you can dissolve the bite/bonding up that makes it very hard for the omega to ever be bonded again. And removing a bond can be very painful/leave them feeeling hollow.
Also these tropes appear in omega verse where the society is more toxic towards the omega and the omega are rock bottom in society and don’t have any standing you won’t see these ideas being talked about in stories where omegas have more right and are protected by the law

By making the top a divorce attorney, this would have been the perfect opportunity to explore how something like divorce would work in an omegaverse world. We see happy relationships or abusive relationships all the time in these stories, but rarely do we see stories where an omegaverse pair has an option of splitting up, and this would have been a great chance to explore how that would even work. I’ve always imagined that after they finalized the divorce, they are lawfully obligated to undergo some kind of medication or shot that will neutralize the pairing pheromone? Wish there were some stories that explored this. The closest I’ve ever seen to separation/ divorce was in an omegaverse story I read a long time ago where alphas had the ability to erase the power of their bites if they didn’t want their partner anymore. Which was interesting. But here? Instead of using their imagination, they made the most rushed, half-baked tripe imaginable. You can tell the author REALLY didn’t want to write this. Reeks of obligation or quota set by their publishing affiliates.
