Absolutely agree. Riftan, regardless of his intent, has harmed Maxi far too many times for me to tolerate, and Maxi being "okay" with Riftan's actions isn't a testament of her kindness, but rather it's shows how much of his behavior she's willing to excuse and endure due to the abuse she was conditioned to live through as a child. Every time Riftan causes distress for Maxi, she forces herself to adapt to his treatment and even blames herself for his outbursts because apparently she isn't behaving as a noble wife should. Him beating the shit out of her asshole father is possibly the only redeemable thing he's done for her. After this arc, he becomes more insufferable than he's been so far.
