Let's be real, his whole relationship dynamic with Amon is pretty unhealthy and even abusive. And it doesn't make it one single lick better that Amon "doesn't understand feelings" (trying hard to keep this spoiler free). Instead of ceasing his sacrifices he knowingly causes his "love" harm by subjecting him to literally mental and emotional torture. Amon has no regard for the lives of others, and he's genuinely terrifying to Nain. So of course Nain would want to cling to the terrifying creature who seems to cherish him. Nain doesn't want the riches and the worship, he wants to live and not become "nothing" to Amon like everyone and everything else is. That's not true love. That's desperation to live, and fear. I wonder if he ever really loved Amon or it's all fear and desperation to survive.
Ps I didn't mention Gwen because my debate is about Amon and Nain. I actually prefer Gwen atm purely out of him just trying to make Nain happy ╥﹏╥
