I’m pro death penalty for people who genuinely are beyond saving (pedophiles, people who sexually assault, murderers without remorse) but yes, it’s mostly fictional characters that I enjoy being killed off.
Also the “ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves” is an epic the musical quote… where Poseidon tells ody that he should have just killed his son instead of blinding him and telling him his name and title which is promptly followed by Poseidon killing 597 (odyssey) or 550 (epic) men under Odysseus’ command. It’s apt in this situation.
I wasn’t talking about the quote I was talking abt “this is why we kill people” because that’s such an insane thing to say as well as “but human rights” “but these people don’t ever learn so why keep them alive” I’m just saying that a lot of the worst genocides and killings that take part in history have had that same rhetoric. It’s just insane to see someone say that even if it’s for fiction. Genuinely DIABOLICAL
Not really. I see a lot of people glad that authors kill off characters and calling for authors to kill off character or authors just straight up murdering 3/4 of their characters for a story. I get why you’re concerned but when you pair it with a quote from an ancient god in a musical, it’s most definitely a satire comment.
And either way, I do believe that people who disregard the human rights of others in such horrific ways should have their own human rights forfeited. If you kill someone, you can’t claim human rights when you’re getting sentenced. If you are a pedophile, you can’t beg for mercy when you showed none to your victims. I don’t think that for every human being or for a demographic of people. Just people who shouldn’t exist in the world because they put everyone else in harms way. Ted Bundy and Hitler being dead are good things. In the uk, we celebrate bonfire night to remember that a terrorist failed at killing hundreds. It’s not a new concept to wish bad people would die. You’re forgetting I said “with no humanity”. That’s exclusively people who harm others in profound ways. In my home country, we kill pedophiles the day we catch them. Women are permitted to kill their assaulters. Mothers don’t need to fear jail time for protecting their sons and daughters. It’s a better system than putting protectors in jail while letting assaulters walk free. You don’t have to agree with it but that’s my stance and it won’t change until we no longer have to warn kids about pedophiles and kidnappers and people who will sexually assault them when they are teenagers and people who will drug them and then traffic them. The world is a scary place after all.

This is why we kill people. Everyone is “no murder!” “But human rights!” But these people don’t ever learn so why keep people with no humanity alive? As a very smart god would say “ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves”. He should have killed that bastard when he had the chance.
