I think what’s happening here is that FL is going along with what her ex wants(letting him inside the house, feeding him, etc.) to keep things from escalating. If he’s crazy enough to show up uninvited to her mom’s house(which is all the way out in the sticks, mind you), then he’s crazy enough to trap her there until she lets him in. The less she cooperates, the angrier he gets. And when these kinds of people are angry, they’re very dangerous and unpredictable. Remember her dad? That man was on a mission to kill her and her mom. Only when he died was her mom free. It’s a terrifying cycle.
