They really misused the amnesia arc. I thought we agreed amnesia arcs for stories with scummy MLs was to watch them grovel more and reflect on their mistakes
True. I think the author's intention with this arc was to show the mc accepting the ml's true personality, show how much the ml accommodates the mc and how much special treatment the mc receives from the ml. But the problem is that its redundant, all of this was already covered during their breakup arc. Mc got to see how cold hearted the ml is,he realises that the ml had really gone easy on him during their friendship arc and after they make up,the ml accommodates the mc to make up for the hurt he caused(eventhough i think the mc forgave him too easily).Even during their healthy relationship arc,the mc still is willing for make sacrifices for the ml selfish desires. The amnesia arc essentially forces the mc to have to unconditionally love the ml ,even when he's lost all the memories they've shared,all coz the ml is a selfish prick who's jealous of himself . It was frustrating coz the mc was walking on eggshells around the ml throughout the whole arc,he barely stands up for himself coz he doesnt want to risk losing the ml and his friends essentially invalidate him by just saying that that's still the ml,he should just accept him. I'm like what was the point of their breakup arc and the ml trying to be a better person for the ml ,if the author was anyways going to force the mc accept the ml's shitty personality

Anyone who says that the redemption arc is satisfying, that the Mc stands up for himself are all lying to you. The ml apologizes only once, he pushes the mc to the point of depression and it barely gets acknowledged in the story. Later there's an amnesia arc where the ml loses his memories,like as if we need to see more of the ml being a prick and the mc being a doormat. The most infuriating part of this arc is that the intention is to make the mc understand the ml's anxiety and insecurity ,which is ridiculous considering how unhealthy the ml's obsession is . What's more annoying is that not only does this arc drag on for the last 3rd of story but it also tries to paint the mc being in the wrong for wanting the ml to get his memories back. The ml lies to the mc that he's recovered few memories after secretly watching an old video of them in order to sleep with the mc. The mc forgives him coz that's so the ml??? The ml is also jealous of his past self so much so that he refuses to regain his memories, shames the mc who wanting him to do that, shames the mc for not accepting the current him and in the end the mc has to run behind him and beg him to stay,all while the ml acts like a selfish prick. Its pisses me off coz the ml doesn't deserve the privilege of forgetting about the past,forgetting what he's put the mc through and reaping the benefits of his past self's repentance.
