In the novel, I always found Jaekyoung’s character somewhat flat—often he seemed like a Jiheon-loving robot if I’m being honest. However I think the manhwa does a better job of conveying his inherent immaturity and childishness vs Jiheon’s pragmatic sense of adult responsibility.
I especially noticed it in this scene, where Jaekyoung goes full brat mode with absolutely no consideration for anyone else in the situation. It really alludes to the dynamic that is developing between them now and how it will expand in the future.
I already knew how Jiheon was steadfast, pessimistic, and self-deprecating to a fault despite appearing pretty much flawless in every external way, but it’s fun and interesting to now really see how Jaekyoung is actually quite insecure and single-minded, and it makes me excited to watch how he grows and matures in the coming chapters (▰˘◡˘▰)
