If the dad had split his time between his family and the cats more equally, I think I wouldn't feel as upset but it seems like Yukiharu and his wife weren't the priority in his life AT all. Like Yukiharu literally said his dad was never home and always made his mom cry. Why even get married and have a kid at that point?? He should've stayed single and become an old cat man.
